Why is my attic so hot?
- Category: AC / Heating Repair Question and Answer
In the Texas heat, having a hot attic is an additional headache that no one needs! If your house is not properly insulated I can guarantee you that that heat will be getting from your attic and into your home any way that it can. I see so many homes with the "turtle" type vents on their house. They're the small square metal covers over the holes in your attic. These do very little to remove heat from your attic. If you have these on your home call a roofer and have them install ball-bearing type wind turbines. The electric fans are good but have to be replaced after about two-three years, the motors get too hot and burn out. Adding extra insulation can never hurt and having the metal-type refection paper added can also help.
